What Pixora is
Pixora is a free online photo editor that runs entirely in your web browser. It gives you the core toolset of a desktop image editor — layers with blend modes and opacity, rectangular marquee selections with feathering, brushes, erasers, paint bucket, gradients, text, shapes, crop, eyedropper, zoom and hand tools — without asking you to install anything or create an account.
Alongside the tools, Pixora includes a full set of adjustments (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, grayscale, sepia, invert, exposure, blur and sharpen), filters (gaussian blur, sharpen, pixelate, noise, vignette and emboss), image and canvas resizing, rotate and flip, a complete undo history, and PNG and JPEG export. Everything listed here genuinely works in the editor today — we don't advertise features we haven't built. Pixora does not support PSD file import, AI-powered tools, or cloud saving, and we say so openly rather than burying it in fine print.
Why Pixora exists
Professional photo editing has traditionally meant one of two things: an expensive subscription to desktop software, or a watered-down web app plastered with ads and paywalls. We built Pixora because we believe the middle ground — a genuinely capable, honestly free editor — should exist. Students on Chromebooks, creators on borrowed laptops, marketers who need a quick thumbnail, photographers who want a fast retouch: all of them deserve tools that respect both their time and their privacy.
Pixora is deliberately focused. Instead of chasing every feature a desktop suite offers, it nails the editing essentials that cover the vast majority of everyday photo work: composing with layers, selecting precisely, painting and retouching, adjusting tone and color, applying filters, and exporting a clean file. If your workflow depends on PSD round-tripping or AI generation, Pixora isn't the right tool — and we'd rather tell you that upfront than waste your time.
Privacy by design
Most online editors upload your photos to a server before they can do anything with them. Pixora works the opposite way: every pixel is processed locally, on your own device, inside your browser. Your images are never uploaded, never stored on our servers, and never seen by us or anyone else. There are no accounts, so there's no profile to build and no personal data to leak. When you close the tab, your work stays exactly where it belongs — with you.
This local-first architecture has practical benefits too. Edits apply instantly with no upload queue, and once the editor has loaded, it keeps working even if your internet connection drops. Privacy isn't a setting in Pixora; it's the foundation the whole product is built on.
What's next
Pixora is an independent project, actively maintained and improved. Our roadmap prioritizes reliability, performance, and thoughtful additions to the existing toolset — always free, always in the browser, always private. If you have feedback or a feature request, we'd genuinely like to hear it on our contact page.
